Take the “Tax” Out of Holiday Shopping

Tax-Free Holiday Shopping

The holiday shopping season is upon us. Oregon’s Tualatin Valley is one of the best places to spend your days shopping for friends and family. Not only does the area boast a diverse selection of shops–from artisan shops to big-box stores–there is no sales tax on anything. So, bring your list and shop away!

Shop Local and Give the Gift of Oregon

This year, support local businesses here in Tualatin Valley while you are checking off items on your Christmas list and shop local. These local small businesses produce a mighty array of artisan goods, tasty foods, delicious drinks and unique items that are sure to delight well beyond the holiday season and into 2023.

Buy artisan chocolate or tea from Mamancy Tea & Chocolate. With two locations in Washington County, Mamancy is a Black woman-owned business that specializes in high-quality, curated teas and chocolates made with ingredients from all over the world. Another great place for artisan foods is Bennett Urban Farm Store, which also sells its roasted coffee beans. For the four-legged pals, Puppernickel is the region’s first dog “barkery” and sells healthy treats made with locally sourced ingredients.

Pick up a fun new wardrobe piece from a boutique, such as like Mapel Boutique, a woman-owned shopping experience with multiple locations in the region, or Brave Boutique, a fashion-forward shop with clothing, jewelry and gift items.

Choose cute housewares from White Birch Design Co., with two locations: downtown Hillsboro and Cedar Mill. White Birch is a lifestyle boutique with home décor, kitchenware, candles, artwork and more. Old Town Sherwood’s Cedar & Stone Home and Plant Shop offers many fun holiday items and gifts.

Grab a board game and stock up on fun entertainment for the holidays and beyond at Rainy Day Games, located in Aloha, or Rune & Board, in downtown Hillsboro. The shops have a wide range of board games, card games and puzzles for everyone. For the youngest people on the list, visit one of the three Piccolo the Mondo Toys stores in Tualatin Valley. This family-owned toy shop has a variety of products from around the world and specializes in innovative toys that encourage creative play.

Farm Stores & Specialty Shops

Shop for holiday décor and treats at Sleighbells Gift Shop. Surrounded by a Christmas tree farm, Sleighbells is a world-class gift shop, featuring a large variety of holiday décor, ranging from kitschy to high-end.

Lee Farms Country Store is the perfect place to shop to fill your house with holiday cheer. The store has a wide selection of holiday decorations, candles and handmade items. They also have local honey, jams, syrups and butter and you can even get homemade pies made with fresh fruit, donuts and pastries.

Smith Berry Barn carries a fun selection of gourmet foods and kitchen items, including berry jams and syrups made from berries grown on-site. The Red Berry Barn not only has a bakery, where you can order a holiday pie, but also has gift items, jams, jellies and locally grown canned goods.
