Anything But IPA: A Tualatin Valley Beer Tour
One-Day Media Itinerary/Story Idea
This tour challenges the notion that West Coast Breweries only make big IPAs by heading to the beautiful Tualatin Valley. For the hop haters out there, this is your tour as you will visit three breweries working hard to elevate the idea of lowering IBUs (the rating of a beer’s bitterness generally created by hops).
Start at Stickman Brewing’s Tualatin Beer Hall, which offers a wide array of flagship, experimental, seasonal and sour beers to surprise even the most experienced palate. Enjoy pizza, such as the chicken pesto, Diavola spicy pepperoni and sausage, or pear and Gorgonzola, prepared in an imported Italian pizza oven.
Nearby Ancestry Brewing is a family owned and operated brewery making a wide array of beers including a low-IBU Session IPA, Cream Ale, English Pale and a Dark Irish, among others.
Next, travel to Hillsboro to try Belgian-style brews at Ambacht Brewing. Ambacht prides itself as one of the only Oregon breweries to not have an IPA. From its tasty Belgian ales to its innovative Matzobraü, this is a must-visit brewery for those looking for anything by IPA.
